the wiki wiki world

On the internet, there are 2 websites that I cannot live without.
1) wikipedia
2) google

I recently read an article about wikipedia in the IEEE spectrum (dec 2006). Basically wiki has redefined the term truth ("truth by consensus"). According to the 'spectrum', there was a talk show person, who appealed to the audience to bombard wiki with the "false-truth" that "the number of african elephants had increased in the last 6 months".

But the wiki "monitors" have succeeded in preventing this from getting in to wiki and for that matter any such false truth. hats off to them, for maintaining the wiki standards. It is a tough job to keep a non-profit organisation like wiki in such good standard. Good job, guys!

A small fact! If I search for an article in wiki, it is generally slow. But If I use google to search for the same wiki article, google gives the link much faster!!! So in addition to the normal search, I use google as a gateway to wiki. works for me!

wiki had this post about a tamil movie. inspired me to change my blog name!

Jogging

It has been six months. since I stopped jogging. Used to jog regularly everyday, when I was working in Bangalore. I must accept that jogging is one of the best ways to start a day.

Listening to the latest hindi songs in Radio City Bangalore and jogging!! Wow! cannot forget that experience. After the jog, the body is completely energised and ready to face the mundane day-to-day sedantry life. Even in the winter (Bangalore's winter is quite cold. average dawn temperature can be less than 10 C), I used to get up before 6:30 and never missed the jogging routine.

Thinking of how bangalore contributed to the jogging practice, I can list the following reason;

1) Bangalore has lots of parks and jog spots in every locality. These parks are always bustling with health conscious people.

2) The pleasant climate that makes jogging a good experience (man, I used to jog in chennai when I stayed there for a month. You basically sweat a lot and get easily dehydrated and stinky)

After travelling to Atlanta for the grad studies, the jogging came to a halt. Mainly because, I didn't have jogging shoes. Now, I will be getting my shoes and with the music player in my mobile, I am planning to restart jogging. The winter here is much colder than the one in Bangalore. But "WHAT THE HELL?", I am going to start getting up early from next week and jog the extra weight out of me. :)
