Globe trekker

Everyone likes to travel around the world and visit places, learn about the place and to know how different or how exciting the life in that new place is. (I have a minor crib here, I see lots of people interested in just visiting a place and taking "patel snaps" of the place, instead of enjoying it and living the life of that place. I definitely can vouch that if people switched off their camera, the trip will be much more enjoyable)

There is a wonderful broadcast called "Globe Trekker" in the Discovery Travel and Living channel in India. There are a number of hosts who travel all around the world, capturing and explaining the life in those unvisited parts, for the pleasure of the viewers. There are a number of characteristics that I like about this program.

1) The selection and presentation of the locations that pretty much symbolize the way of life in that part of the country. They choose very exotic spots and cover every inch of detail including the finer ones like cuisine, entertainment, music, art, festivals etc

2) The presenters are damn good and are funny and love what they are doing. (my favorite ones are the cute Christina Chang, Justine Shapiro and Ian Wright.) I still remember the Oktober fest episode, in which Justine serves beer to a table, a guy at the table grabs her butt and she goes crazy on the air

3) The title music is inspiring.

4) Last but not the least, you really get to know about lots of places that you will never visit in your life.
