To kill Dr. Hannibal Lecter

Silence of the lambs and Hannibal were two good movies that helped me pass the mundane weekend at Holly street. Hannibal Lecter M.D, the Johns Hopkins educated cannibalistic Doctor. When I was applying to US, PAM used to say, "Namba! You are applying to Johns-Hopkins? That is where Hannibal Lecter did his M.D". Well! He is one person who is easily inspired by Hollywood movies; wanting to be a pirate, a Kung-foo master, a cannibal, a boxer, bus driver....

The movies made me to think and come up with a way for killing Hannibal, some way that is in line with Poetic Justice. Hannibal is a cannibal. He loves eating the brain of homo-sapiens. How can one turn this habit in to a deadly weapon to punish Dr. Lecter? A little bit of Biochemistry and Pathophysiology will help us come up with one such method. Have you heard about Mad cow disease? Mad cow disease aka Bovine spongiform encephalopathy is a brain disease that affects the cattle population. This disease is caused by the wrong confirmation or folding of a protein expressed in brain. When the "mad cow" is consumed by a human, the misfolded protein gets accumulated in the human brain and triggers a chain reaction to misfold the normal form of the same protein in human brain. This results in the deadly Prion Disease in humans. Death is confirmed!! And if a cannibal eats the affected brain, he too will get the disease. Now if you, some how make Hannibal Lecter eat the brain of a person affected by "Prion Disease" (cook a human brain Biryani for him! I am sure he will love it), that's it! You have signed Dr. Lecter's death sentence. Poetic Justice, isn't it?!
