My Home page

I got the following idea from Gopi (Gopi is Dee O Gee - DOG, DOG manne Kuttha) who was my manager at Tejas Networks. (The DOG phrase is the one that he uses often when he reviews the team members' code and finds out a memory leak or design issue or any other potential bugs (Well, with "Gopi" replaced by the team member's name)). Gopi is a big software enthusiast.

With the ubiquity of the Internet, a common individual accesses a large number of websites in his/her daily life. Normally the person types in the first few words of the website address and the browser does the job of completing the address. Gopi wanted to make this still easier and designed/wrote a html code that displays the hypertext references of the website name (the underlined blue words). He set this html code as his home page, so that every time the browser opens with this particular page with easy hypertext references. Whenever he wants to find the bugs assigned to a person or check the company mail etc, he just opens the browser and clicks the appropriate link. That's it. Yaah! clicking is more easier than typing the first few words, scrolling to select the correct website address and then pressing the ENTER key.

But Gopi's home page was colourless and boring and was Linux-types. I wanted to wanted to make it mac-types. Instead of the mundane hypertext references, I decided to use images as hypertext references. For Eg. I used the Google mail, yahoo mail, facebook images and the user (me!) can click the Gmail image to open the Google mail etc etc. I have attached a screenshot from my laptop.

This home page is better looking and easier to use than that of Gopi's. I have attached a zip file that contains the source code and the images that I used to create the above page. Click here to download...
